Philip M. Owens, 58, Altoona, formerly of Hastings, died Sunday morning at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was born in Johnstown, son of the late James “Casey” and Antoinette “Ginger” (Zagata) Owens. He is survived by a brother, Joseph J. and wife, Sandy, of Hastings; two nieces: Lindsey and Dana; a nephew, Scott; and a sister, Terri Mortenson and husband, Bob, of Hastings.
He retired as a machinist from Hastings Machines.
He graduated from Cambria Heights High School, Class of 1968. He earned an associate’s degree in computer.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He received a Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.
He was a former member of Hastings Volunteer Fire Company.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing.
