SWAB – John R. “Jack,” 67, Patton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007. He was born April 26, 1940, in Patton, son of Charles F. and Aline (Thomas) Swab. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles F. Swab Jr. Jack is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris (McNulty) Swab; these children: Jeffrey (Lorrie) Swab, Fallston, Md.; Christine (Martin) Doyle, Holland, Pa.; Karen (Michael) Bergmann, Silver Spring, Md.; and Gail (Kenneth) Kornacki, McDonald, Pa.; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Emilie, Katie, Jack, Sean, Brian, Caroline, Stephanie and Sarah. Also survived by brothers, Robert Swab, Dayton, Ohio, and Thomas Swab, Westmont; sisters, Shirley Lawson, Biloxi, Miss.; Margaret Moore, Holland, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a 1958 graduate of Patton High School. He then became co-owner of Patton Hardware (Servicestar) and was later employed by Vista Volunteers and Norcam. He also was a vendor for Details Inc., serving Lowes stores. Jack was the creator of the Arts and Crafts Festival for the Patton Labor Day sales. He was past president and secretary for the Patton Chamber of Commerce; past president of the Patton Public Library; member of the Patton Municipal Authority; charter member of the Cambria Heights Jaycees; past president of the St. Mary’s School board; past member of the parish council at Queen of Peace Church; life member of Patton Fire Company; and was a former Little League, Pony League and softball coach. Jack enjoyed bowling, softball, basketball and tennis. He was an avid Penn State and Steelers fan. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, Benedictine Fathers officiating.
